Do my photos get uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, on your machine. Your files never touch a server, so there is nothing for anyone to see, scan, or keep.
Will my photo data survive the conversion?
Yes, that is the point of this tool. Dates, locations, and the rest of the EXIF data carry across to the JPG instead of being stripped out.
What is a HEIC file anyway?
The photo format iPhones have used by default since 2017. Great for saving space on your phone, painful for sharing, because plenty of software still cannot open it.
What counts as one conversion?
One conversion is one run, the whole folder, however many files are in it. Drop in three photos or three hundred, press convert once, and it counts as one. Failed runs don't count at all.
Can I use this on my iPhone?
The page opens fine on a phone, but when you pick photos from an iPhone or iPad library, iOS converts them to JPG before any website ever sees them, so there is usually nothing left to convert. This tool earns its keep with the HEIC files saved on your computer.
